El proceso de rehabilitación y reforma de una vivienda junto a la ría de Bilbao es utilizado por Jon Otamendi para generar un suceso artístico empleando como materia prima un conjunto de obras de Lorea Alfaro (SEA, valla publicitaria, 16 posters de 1m x 1,5 m c.u, 2016; DEUX NEGRESSES, aerosol sobre hormigón, 500 m2, 2013), que van a ocupar los paramentos verticales y horizontales del inmueble y que, a su vez, quedan invisibilizadas por las capas de material de construcción que completaron la reforma.
La acción se ha desarrollado en diversas etapas, la primera de las cuales tuvo lugar el día 17 de noviembre de 2018, en que se procedió a la instalación de las piezas en paredes y suelo por parte de los propios Jon y Lorea junto a Patxi Eguíluz, arquitecto autor de la reforma, Leire Muñoz, Itziar Okariz, Jon López-Aróstegui, Jon Mikel Euba y Carlos Copertone. Ha continuado mediante la elaboración de textos y charlas de Otamendi con algunos de los intervinientes y, finalmente, mediante una apertura al público el día 26 de julio de 2019 donde la imagen construida y que oculta las obras de Alfaro únicamente las invoca a través de una luz proyectada que deja leer las palabras OPINIÓN POSICIÓN, un efímero eco visual de unas piezas que de manera imperceptible dan lugar al nacimiento de un espacio y, en definitiva, sustentan una casa.
The process of refurbishing and reforming a house on the river in Bilbao is used by Jon Otamendi to create an artistic happening, using as raw material a collection of works by the artist Lorea Alfaro (‘SEA’, billboard, 16 posters of 1m x 1.5m, 2016; ‘DEUX NEGRESSES’, aerosol on concrete, 500m2, 2013) which cover the vertical and horizontal surfaces of the building. These works are, in turn, rendered invisible due to the layers of construction material that complete the refurbishment.
The action was carried out in different phases, the first of which took place on 17th November 2018, starting with the installation of the artworks on the walls and on the ground. This was done by Jon and Lorea themselves, along with Patxi Eguíluz, lead architect on the refurbishment, Leire Muñoz, Itziar Okariz, Jon López-Aróstegui, Jon Mikel Euba and Carlos Copertone. The process continued in the form of writings and talks by Otamendi along with some of these participants, and, finally, the public opening on 26th July 2019, where the constructed image, which covers up the works by Alfaro, invokes the works solely by means of a projected light. This light allows the words OPINIÓN POSICIÓN to be read, an ephemeral visual echo of certain art pieces which subtly allow a space to be born; pieces which, ultimately, hold up a house.
