La transcripción de sus sueños, de esos que apenas recuerda, es la base de las performances de Itziar Okariz. Se trata de un material recogido en Sueños (Caniche, 2022), en el que presta especial atención a la estructura que sostiene las palabras, y a la posibilidad de perturbar y reorientar que se puede provocar en ellas. Itziar Okariz se sirve de esa desestabilización para producir sucesos plásticos, poéticos; también para desvelar el esqueleto, la norma... Y hay algo extraordinario en ello.

En esta ocasión nos adentramos en el cuaderno no verbalizado de la artista, en sus últimos sueños, aún no leídos, aún no escuchados. Palabras escritas para ser dichas en voz alta, para que tomen forma en una improvisación, en una lectura en directo. Un cuerpo de pie, una persona frente a ti. La configuración más básica de un cuerpo frente a una audiencia.

The transcription of her dreams, the hazy ones she barely remembers, is the basis of Itziar Okariz’s performance pieces. This material is compiled in Sueños (“Dreams”; published by Caniche, 2022), in which she focuses on the very structure that props up the words, and on the possible twisting and reorienting that they can undergo. Itziar Okariz makes use of this destabilisation to create expressive, poetic occurrences, while also revealing the underlying skeleton, the framework and its norms… and there is something truly extraordinary in it all.

On this occasion, we delve deep into the artist’s non-verbalised notebook, into her recent dreams, as-yet-unread, as-yet-unheard. Words written to be said out loud, so they can take form as an improvisation, as a live reading. A body standing up, a person right in front of you. The most basic configuration of a body in front of an audience.
